Arrived about 4PM from Pt Jefferson. Had to wait until 8:30AM for the fuel dock to open. Probably could have made the run without but for a trip as far as Fiddlers there is comfort level in knowing you have enough fuel plus.
Trip up LI Sound was fantastic. Weather was overcast but seas were flat. Got call from Jim P telling me that Block Island sound might be a little on the sticky side. Jim called later in the am to see how things were going, and the seas were fine. I spoke to soon.
From just off Pt Judith till at little up east of Cuttyhunk I dealt with everything from fog, rain, strong wind and I’d say an average sea of about 6-7 feet. The good thing was the wind and sea were at my stern and although it felt a bit like a roller coaster at times I remained dry. I was good I put up the isinglass before leaving Pt Jefferson, not for wind but I was cold. To much Florida sun in my blood still.
Arrived at Fiddlers Cover about 4 in the afternoon. Got a nice slip and relaxed for a few hours waiting for Jim and Jay. After they we had a few beverages prior to going out to eat. We had a great dinner and called it for us, a relatively early night.
Original plan was to stay at Fiddlers for a day or two but after watching the weather I decided it best to head for Marina Bay in the AM.
Up and running the CC Canal at 7:30AM. Stopped at Sandwich Marina for fuel an out into Cape Cod Bay. A fantastic ride up the bay with Auto handling most of the trip, an occasional lobster pot dodge by me but he did well.
Arrived at Marina Bay a bit after noon with welcoming committee on the dock, Jeff and Steve.
I can not describe my feelings as I came up Boston Harbor, looking at the most beautiful skyline of all those I've seen this winter.
A very relaxing evening with the guys. We had beverages, yes again, and went out to dinner. I had twin lobster and steamers, something I've been wanting for a long time.
Woke up this am to a good old fashion New England thurnder storm, fantastic, I don't need to wash the boat.
Now the for a fact finding mission. I've not done any totals yet, probably shouldn't, but want to total the hours, fuel and such. With the exception of my problems in Norfolk I know I'm still under my original budget...a good thing.
This will be the last blog of this adventure, something I will always remember.
The next adventure is the Hudson River and Erie Canal system. New number one item on "the bucket list".
